Chiropractic Manipulation
This is the primary treatment technique for chiropractors. Also known as joint manipulation, chiropractic manipulation is the restoration of joints into their full range of motion. This includes the joints in the spine and the extremities (arms and legs). At All Day Chiropractic, we identify joints that cannot complete a full range of motion (AKA stiff joints) and apply a force/push to restore that lost motion. This technique may be accompanied with a “pop,” “click,” or “crack.” These sounds are harmless and represent the joint releasing pressure.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a soft tissue approach to relieve muscle tension by removing adhesions. Muscle tissue adhesions are also known as trigger points. Trigger points develop as a result of repetitive motions or prolonged posture such as sitting at a desk. Myofascial release is done by applying pressure to a muscle while completing a stretch to break up adhesions.
Dry Needling
Similar to myofascial release, dry needling therapy also treats trigger points. Trigger points affect the ability of muscles to move properly thus creating compromised movement patterns which can cause further pain and inflammation. Dry needling uses small needles to penetrate the muscle and release trigger points to restore muscle integrity. These needles are very similar to those used in acupuncture.
