What We Treat

Sports Injuries

Sports injuries are injuries that occur during physical activity or sports participation. These injuries can affect athletes of all ages and skill levels and can range from minor strains and sprains to more serious injuries. Some common sports injuries include:

● Sprains: Sprains occur when ligaments, which connect bones to each other, are stretched or torn. Ankle and wrist sprains are common in many sports.

● Strains: Strains happen when muscles or tendons, which connect muscles to bones, are stretched or torn. Hamstring strains and quadriceps strains are examples of muscle strains.

● Dislocations: A dislocation occurs when a bone is forced out of its normal position. This can happen in joints like the shoulder or kneecap.

● Tendinitis: Tendinitis is inflammation of a tendon, often due to overuse. It can affect various tendons, such as the Achilles tendon in the heel or the rotator cuff tendons in the shoulder.

● Overuse injuries: These injuries develop gradually over time due to repetitive stress on a specific area of the body. They can include conditions like tennis elbow, runner's knee, and shin splints. Overuse injuries are one of the most common injuries treated by chiropractors.

● Torn ligaments: A torn ligament can result in instability in a joint. For example, a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in the knee is a common sports injury.
